UNESCO–Al Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in STEM – Call for Nominations for the 2027 Edition
Nominations are now open for the UNESCO–Al Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) 2027.
Recognized as one of the leading international awards in STEM fields, the prize is awarded biennially to five outstanding young scientists from around the world in recognition of their exceptional scientific achievements and contributions to innovation and addressing global challenges.
Prize Award
Each of the five laureates will receive:
- A cash award of USD 50,000.
- A commemorative medal and an official UNESCO certificate.
Prize Objectives
The prize aims to:
- Support and promote scientific research and education in STEM fields.
- Contribute to developing the next generation of researchers capable of advancing sustainable development.
- Promote gender equality and encourage women's participation in scientific disciplines.
- Ensure geographical balance by representing different world regions, including Africa and the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be under the age of 40 at the time of nomination.
- Demonstrate an outstanding record of achievements in:
- Scientific research, including emerging technologies.
- Education, knowledge dissemination, and innovation.
- International or regional cooperation in STEM fields.
- Female scientists are strongly encouraged to be nominated.
Required Nomination Documents
The nominating institution should provide:
- An official nomination letter signed and stamped by the employer.
- A curriculum vitae (maximum 2–3 pages).
- A summary of achievements, publications, and supporting documents.
- A description of the nominee’s contribution to the objectives of the prize.
- A list of key scientific publications, including a brief statement of their significance.
Requirements for Nominees from Ain Shams University
Applicants should submit:
- An approved nomination letter from the faculty.
- Nominee information (name, position, email address, and WhatsApp number).
- An updated employment/status statement.
- Justification for nomination.
- Proof of registration in the University Awards Database through: https://staff.asu.edu.eg/ar/award-apply
Important Deadlines
- Deadline for receiving nominations from faculties: October 20, 2026.
- Deadline for submission to the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO: November 15, 2026.
