President of Benha University, inaugurated the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon under the slogan "Innovating the Future of Healthcare"

Prof. El-Gizawy: We are keen to support digital transformation and achieve Egypt's Vision 2030.

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, the president of Benha University, inaugurated the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon under the slogan "Innovating the Future of Healthcare," which is organized by the university in collaboration with the Information Technology Institute (ITI) affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and will continue until February 11.

This event was attended by:

  • Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hadi, the university's vice president for postgraduate studies and research,
  • Prof. Taha Ashour, the university's vice president for community service and environmental development,
  • Prof. Shady Y. El-Mashad, the university's executive director of information and the general coordinator of the Hackathon,
  • Eng. Salah Abdel-Mohsen, the director of the Digital Egypt Innovation Center,
  • Mrs. Rania Motaz, the university's assistant secretary for community service and environmental development.

Prof. El-Gizawy expressed his happiness at hosting the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon, listening to the opinions and ideas of the participating students, and confirming that Benha University is committed to providing a stimulating and supportive environment for innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship by giving students the opportunity to market their projects and innovations.

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy explained that the Hackathon aims to support digital transformation and achieve Egypt's Vision 2030 by promoting innovation and encouraging creative youth in Egyptian universities and institutes to present their smart ideas and programming projects in various Hackathon fields.

Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hadi added that the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon involves 35 teams representing 23 Egyptian universities in various Hackathon tracks, which include (artificial intelligence in diagnosis, remote health monitoring, mental health and wellness, facilitating access to healthcare, telemedicine solutions, Internet of Things for elderly care, and medical data analysis and presentation).

Prof. Shady Y. El-Mashad mentioned that the winning teams of the Hackathon will receive monetary awards totaling 175,000 Egyptian pounds provided by Benha University across 7 tracks, with the first place receiving a prize of 12,000 pounds, the second place 8,000 pounds, and the third place 5,000 pounds.

To Cooperate in Cross-Border Education Programs: Benha University Receives a Delegation from Canterbury Christ Church University, UK

 Canterbury Christ Church University, United Kingdom. This visit falls within the university's keenness to support its internationalization efforts and enhance academic cooperation with prestigious international universities, exploring mechanisms for implementing joint academic programs under the Transnational Education (TNE) system.The British delegation included Mr. Stephen Lammiman, Director of International Cooperation and Academic Agreements; Dr. Lorna Thomas, Joint Academic Agreements Officer; and Ms. Michelle Shields, Transnational Education Programs Officer.
The University President indicated that the visit included an inspection tour of Benha University's Obour branch. The British delegation was briefed on the educational capabilities and infrastructure, including classrooms and lecture halls. They also visited the central library, the medical skills and simulation lab, and the sports complex. Meetings were held with officials of the Student Management Information System (MIS) and the Thinqi educational platform. The delegation expressed admiration for the university's infrastructure level and available technological readiness.
A series of academic and technical meetings were also held between the two sides. Discussions covered aspects related to programs and academic regulations, admission systems, teaching mechanisms, examinations and assessment, and e-learning platforms. This paves the way for activating joint academic cooperation between the two universities.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and the exchange of technical information, in preparation for taking the next executive steps. This contributes to offering joint academic programs in accordance with international standards, thereby enhancing Benha University's standing at both the regional and international levels.
On the sidelines of the visit, Mr. Stephen Lammiman participated as a keynote speaker in the events of the conference on employment and vocational training held at the university's Obour branch. He highlighted the role of Transnational Education (TNE) in enhancing graduate skills, linking academic programs with labor market needs, and increasing employment opportunities locally and internationally.

Launch of the "Quran Recited by Angels" Competition Tests for People of Determination in Qalyubia

Under the patronage of Engineer Ayman Atiya, Governor of Qalyubia; Prof.Dr. Nasser Al-Gizawy, President of Benha University; and Mr. Mustafa Abdel Hamid Farag, Chairman of the Board of the World Youth Foundation in Qalyubia, the tests for the "Quran Recited by Angels" competition have commenced.
The competition is organized by the university in cooperation with Qalyubia Governorate and the World Youth Foundation. It is a Quranic competition dedicated to people of determination, aiming to showcase their abilities in memorizing the Holy Quran and enhancing their active participation in religious and cultural activities.The events were followed by Dr. Khaled Eissawy, General Coordinator of Activities at Benha University, and Ms. Omayma Rifaat, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Qalyubia.
The tests were launched across four levels, including the entire Quran, half of the Quran, three-quarters of the Quran, and a quarter of the Quran. Contestants were tested by specialized committees comprising representatives from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Ministry of Endowments to ensure integrity and accuracy in evaluation. A total of 81 contestants participated, with 22 in the first level, 18 in the second level, 14 in the third level, and 27 in the fourth level.The total prize value is 300,000 Egyptian pounds, with 150,000 pounds provided by Benha University and 150,000 pounds provided by the World Youth Foundation. Prizes will be distributed to the top winners in each level according to the decisions of the organizing committee.The competition witnessed strong competitions among the participants, accompanied by great interest from their parents and clear joy at the governorate's efforts in launching such competitions that give special attention to people of determination for the first time in the governorate's history. They called for its repetition annually.
This initiative comes within the framework of supporting societal integration and providing equal opportunities for people of determination. Participants compete in a distinctive spiritual atmosphere that confirms the Holy Quran is a message of mercy and guidance, and that people of determination are active partners in spreading its message and elevating its sublime values.
