
Dr. Nasser El‑Gizawy, President of Benha University, conducted an extensive inspection tour of a number of newly established faciliti
es at the university.
He was accompanied by Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mohamed Saeed, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra and the University’s Engineering Consultant; Dr. Magdy El‑Shehata, Dean of the Faculty of Education; a number of faculty deans; the University Secretary‑General; assistant secretaries‑general; consultants; and engineers from the University’s Engineering Administration.
The tour began with an inspection of the construction work of the building housing the Faculties of Applied Arts and Specific Education, which consists of three adjacent buildings, with a total area of 8,200 square meters per floor. The building includes a ground floor and six upper floors, and contains 12 lecture halls with a capacity of 200 students each, nine lecture halls with a capacity of 100 students each, 20 various workshops, 40 diverse laboratories and studios, an exhibition hall, a library, and a medical clinic. It also includes halls for practical lessons and offices for faculty members. Accessibility requirements for persons with special needs will be applied in the building’s design. The project cost exceeds EGP 800 million and serves more than 30,000 students. The university president stressed the need to accelerate the pace of work on the project.
During the tour, Dr. El‑Gizawy also inspected the construction of the Central Lecture Halls Building and the University Museum, which aims to increase the university’s student capacity. The new project includes 50 lecture halls, each accommodating 200 students, to provide opportunities and accommodate the growing number of applicants seeking enrollment in the university’s faculties. The construction cost exceeds EGP 1 billion. He also pointed out that the possibility of using the building’s basement for second‑semester examinations for the Faculties of Education and Sports Sciences is being studied, as an alternative to erecting examination tents, reflecting the university’s commitment to optimal utilization of its facilities, while emphasizing the necessity of meeting all safety and security requirements for students and staff. He added that an ambulance station, a fire station, and a security point will be established to safeguard the university’s human and institutional resources.
The university president also inspected the second phase of the Electronic Testing Center project, which has reached a completion rate of 75%, and directed that final finishing works be completed as soon as possible to bring it into service. He further inspected the development works at the Capacity Development Center for Faculty Members and Leaders, as well as the Talented Students Care Center.
In addition, Dr. El‑Gizawy inspected the project for constructing the Outpatient Clinics Building and Specialized Medical Centers, which includes more than 50 medical clinics covering all medical specialties, in addition to medical laboratories, radiology centers, and a pharmacy on the first and second floors, along with several specialized medical centers on the remaining floors of the building. He also inspected the construction and final finishing works of Al‑Rahman Al‑Rahim Mosque at the Faculty of Education, in preparation for its imminent opening, as well as the construction of a garage and a vehicle service center for the university, and the “Bedaya Market” retail outlet.
The university president further inspected the olive and palm trees planted on campus as part of the presidential initiative “100 Million Trees,” aimed at confronting climate challenges and changes, increasing green spaces, promoting environmental awareness, achieving economic benefits from trees, and improving public health. He directed that specialists from the Faculty of Agriculture be involved in supervising the trees to achieve better productivity rates.
Dr. Nasser El‑Gizawy also inspected the new university hospital to follow up on the progress of work at the site. The hospital occupies an area of 9,042 square meters and consists of two basement levels and seven repeated floors. He listened to a briefing from those in charge of the project regarding the completed stages of implementation.
During the tour, Dr. El‑Gizawy emphasized the importance of adhering to the project timelines, quality standards of execution, final finishes, and necessary equipment for the facilities in accordance with approved specifications, while taking into account occupational safety and health requirements. He also highlighted the importance of fully utilizing all university facilities, removing any obstacles to their operation, as they constitute part of the university’s investments.
On the sidelines of the tour, Dr. Nasser El‑Gizawy engaged in discussions with a number of students to listen to their views on the educational process at the university and gauge their level of satisfaction. He encouraged them to contribute positively and help enhance the university’s positive image.
