Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced that the university’s research performance and international publication indicators for 2025 demonstrated significant progress in both scientific productivity and the quality of published research, reflecting the university’s growing position among academic and research institutions at the regional and international levels.
Dr. Jihan Abdel Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, revealed that the number of internationally published papers in 2025 reached 2,009 publications, bringing the university’s total scientific output during the period 2021–2025 to 9,440 international publications, representing an increase of 682 papers compared with the beginning of the period.
In the area of international collaboration, the university achieved an international co-authorship rate of 64.7% of its total published research. The number of publications produced in collaboration with international institutions and researchers reached 6,106 papers, highlighting the expansion of Benha University’s global research partnership network.
Research impact indicators also showed strong performance, with the university achieving an average of 17.8 citations per published paper. In addition, the Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) reached 1.69 in 2025, indicating that Benha University's publications performed 69% above the global average impact.
Regarding the quality of scientific publishing, the data showed that 55.8% of the university’s publications appeared in Q1 journals, ranked among the top 25% of scholarly journals worldwide. A further 23.7% were published in Q2 journals, bringing the proportion of publications in the top 50% of global journals to 79.5%. Moreover, 94.3% of the university’s research output was published in journals ranked within the top 75% worldwide.
The annual analysis of the Field-Weighted Citation Impact also revealed notable improvement in 2025, with the FWCI rising to 1.69, compared with 1.35 in 2024, marking the highest level achieved during the past five years.
These achievements reaffirm Benha University’s commitment to strengthening its research capabilities and advancing scientific excellence. They also support the university’s vision of enhancing the quality of its research output, expanding international collaboration, and contributing effectively to global knowledge production.
